Hello!

A woman and a man in military uniform standing together inside an aircraft museum with several airplanes in the background.

Welcome to my corner of the internet!

I'm Rachel Arcos-Honeycutt, a military spouse, special education teacher, and passionate advocate for students with exceptionalities from Autism, to ADHD, to Dyslexia, and more!

My journey in education began in high school with a student-teaching program, and I’ve spent years working with students of all abilities.

My favorite college experience was volunteering at GiGi's Playhouse, a Down Syndrome Achievement Center, where I had the honor of tutoring reading, launching a math program, and creating a summer camp for adults with Down Syndrome!

After graduating from Arizona State University, I started my education journey as a Co-Teacher in Greenwich, Connecticut while doing my Master’s Degree in Special Education with an emphasis on Applied Behavior Analysis.

Then, I went on to teaching special education in Dallas, Texas, where I’ve worked with students from all walks of life—especially those who struggle the most.

In this blog, I’ll share my experiences and tips for supporting struggling students and those with IEPs or 504 plans.

Whether you’re a teacher, parent, or just someone passionate about supporting kids with unique needs, you’ll find practical advice on behavior management, mental health strategies, and how to create meaningful resources for your students.

Let's make teaching and learning a fun and meaningful experience for all students!

In my free time, I love to knit, cook, read, go to the beach, watch movies with my husband, and play with my dog Daisy!

I am a silly, loud, creative person who thrives on building strong relationships around me, especially with my students.

As a teacher who has struggled personally in school as a result of undiagnosed ADHD, I know the importance of meeting kids where they are, and that’s exactly what I aim to do.

As a special education teacher, I’m especially passionate about teaching reading, social-emotional learning, and executive functioning skills in ways that are structured, engaging, and fun!

I believe in making learning enjoyable while providing the structure and support that students need to thrive.

That is what prompted me to start sharing my resources on TeachersPayTeachers and writing a blog! I loved being able to support my colleagues with things like graphic organizers, social stories, projects, and helpful resources to support the students in their class who needed the most support.
